BMW….which stands for Bring Money With you to the dealer to get the lousy, constantly in need of work car fixed

First of all, great choice of car. I had a 325 and LOVED it. Also had a 318. Loved it, but not as much as my 325.

As much as I love BMWs, they are hella expensive to maintain and repair. It’s almost impossible to work on the car yourself, so you pretty much have to take it to the dealer.

For me, maintenance was more than double the average car out there. I needed a new catalytic converter – $1800. I had a 6-inch pin break in my convertible top – $90. A gallon of windshield wiper fluid – $18 (no, I didn’t buy it – not that stupid).

Here’s the bottom line…if you have the money, get it. Maintenance for both my cars were few and far between, but when they needed maintenance, it hurt my wallet.

But they were both completely worth it, and if I ever come into a bunch of money, I’m rollin’ right out and buying an M3.

    Have Fun!

It’s a good car but it’s not the most comfortable

the back seat and trunk are very small.

Maintenance is expensive. $2,200 for tires, oil change, alignment, and brakes. Annual Fuel Cost $2392 (15Kmiles)

a few things to have a mechanic check

rear control arm bushings, window regulators,
sunroof controls & guides, factory alarm system

the brakes create a lot of dust, and the radio is poor.

if you have a good mechanic it’s a lot easier to live with than if your dealing with the BMW dealerships.

First find a good certified experienced BMW mechanic who owns his own shop; have them completely inspect the car. Second by a repair book from Bentley so when the mechanics do the inspections and service work you know what they are talking about and you aren’t getting robbed.
Third find out what maintenace has been done and what hasn’t and then determine if it’s worth the hassle to pay for the preventative maintenace. Good luck
