New studies indicate numerous distractions like cell phones and vehicle passengers put teen drivers at greater risk for fatal car crashes. However, some auto manufacturers like Volvo Cars say they have developed numerous safety systems to help combat this statistic. To prevent drunk driving, the ‘multi lock system’ forces the driver to blow into a built-in breathalyzer before the car engine will start. In addition, a special ignition key limits the car’s speed to ensure further safety.

a key that limits a car’s speed to 40mph is a bit much…theres plenty of situations that could arise needing extra acceleration on roads with 35mph speed limits…with the breatherlizer what if your son is about to be pulled out of his car at a stop sign by some bullies or carjackers…I know the idea is good on paper but, the world isnt perfect…what kinda speed limitation is it ?…really low rev limiter ? we don’t need these type of features for cars we need safer people.

I think that teenagers shouldn’t be driving they need to wiegh up the NEED to drive vs the WANT to drive and you will find many teenagers WANT to drive. they think it is their right of passage when when they are still indulge in other high risk activities. Alcohol is only one reason why teens die in accidents Fatigue is another, speed and drugs and peer pressure
