    Hello Brian,

I have done 2 or 3 car shows in Detroit.

I do the same thing….. Not just 50′s for 50′s car show….. mix it up….

I never thought I would hear another DJ talk about —– Demographics, and so much about —- the social impact of music/era/social standing/demographic etc.

I studied sociology and psychology — never thought it would help me so much as a DJ…. but it does.

I normally charge around $1000…. I do some community stuff for exactly $200 too.

    Rock On!

We have a Car show every Tuesday night here in the summer time. Cruisin’ the Dub at the local A&W Restaurants. Man, you see a lot of nice cars, and meet a whole whack of nice people too. They have an Oldies style DJ, and by Oldies, I mean Wolfman Jack style of guy. Good times.

I did a local classic car show for a local bowling alley it was fun and easy, I played music from the 50′s-80′s.

  7. 123scottsdj says:

@VVooDz ..well some stuff is good but its not the same as the 70s and 80s but i dont mind some top 40

  8. aaronSPSS says:

@123scottsdj: although i agree you cant beat the classics , you must admit that not ALL new music is crap. there are tons of good bands around these days.

  9. VVooDz says:

@123scottsdj – That’s a bit harsh. what about Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Stereophonics, Killerz, Coldplay, Maximo Park, Editors, The Automatic, Etc?

@ambroom the show allows any car to enter, and usually its mostly old cars, but there were a few tuners this year a long with a low rider (awesome). I do the 8 – 9 hour show for $100 to help the legion (something that would normally cost $450 – $550 at my rate. The prizes go out, nearly everyone gets a prize (there are usually 55 trophies) All the trophies are sponsered by an outside party so they don’t cost the legion a lot of money. I love doing the car show every year, it is always fun

As far as the set-up… When I set-up I have 2 Behringer 215A Powered Speakers, and 2 Gemsound (no clue what kind) that have 2 15″ subs a piece. they are incredibly loud when you stand in front of all of them, but the field I DJ at is HUGE, with usually 75 – 100 cars (this year there was 65 for weather reasons)

I make announcements all the time, advertising for buisnesses (Usually I get something in return) Advertising for the registration, raffles, bar, and food… cont…
