Just a commercial I felt like making. My cousin’s Honda accord was hit in the rear-left section and pushed onto my neighbor’s lawn. The neighbor across the street of her parked car tried to back out of the driveway and the throttle got stuck, which caused him to uncontrollably reverse at full power. This caused him and his car to hit my cousin’s car and then smash into my other neighbor’s backyard. If my cousin’s parked car was not there, the reversing car could easily have smashed into the living room of the house. Edited, filmed, directed, produced by: Nick Hui

The summer season is well underway now with a lot of people already enjoying backyard barbecues and days lounging in the sun, some people may even have the urge to make the most of our favourable weather at the moment and drive somewhere on holiday in the UK. There are still plenty of hazards on the road and little maintenance jobs we should keep an eye on whether we do in fact get some decent weather or get the usual summer down pours.

The summer can often bring with it higher temperatures, this may mean if you are unfortunate to be stuck in traffic jams then the heat could make you irritable and drive more aggressively. Try to keep cool by either using your air conditioning or bringing a cold drink along with you to make sure you don’t boil over and cause an unnecessary accident.

As well as making sure you have plenty to drink you should check your car’s coolant and other liquid levels, many breakdowns in the summer are because the car has overheated and smoke has begun to billow out of the engine bay. Other parts of your car are also prone to damage caused by the heat such as your tyres, the change in temperature and humidity can affect the air pressure in your tyres so you should check your tyres before any long journey and regularly.

The road surface is also going to be incredibly hot meaning your wheels could skid if you have to stop suddenly, do your best to avoid this by making sure your tyres have a decent level of tread and that they aren’t below the legal minimum. You should replace any tyres that are going bald as they can be at best ineffective when stopping and at worst can develop punctures or blowouts.

There is of course the other hazard of rain water as not even our British summer times are safe from the British weather, with water on the roads you will need to be careful of your speed as any sudden stops are likely to again result in you skidding. The summer weather may make travelling more pleasant and enjoyable when it comes to the scenery you still need to be cautious of the road and everyone else out there.

Your car can be subject to added stresses during the summer so make sure you do your best to keep it in good condition. Even if you are not planning to sell your car right now, at some point in the future you may wish to trade up and having a car that is in decent condition to trade or part exchange can help save you some money when you are looking to get a new car.

Whether you are after a smaller car like a Nissan or a larger vehicle such as a Land Rover, make sure you look at the wide range of car dealers available online to see a wide range of used cars.

All vehicle owners in the area know only too well that auto air conditioning repair is needed more often in Tampa than in cooler areas in the country. Florida weather can reach temperatures that can be intolerable without air conditioning. Because of the frequency of the need for car air conditioner repair, vehicle owners should choose an auto repair shop that is very good at doing automobile AC repair. The expertise of such an auto repair shop should not be limited to that, though, but should also extend to auto maintenance and tune ups as well as brakes, shocks and transmission repair in Tampa.

One auto repair shop that specializes in automobile AC repair in Tampa is Ice Cold Air Discount Auto Repair. It expands its customer and public service by offering free advice on basic car care to vehicle owners in Tampa. The same advice is also applicable to all vehicles anywhere in the country.

This advice began with the glove compartment of each vehicle which is recommended to contain the owner’s manual of the vehicle, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance card, insurance claim instructions, a map, the phone number of the chosen roadside assistance provider and the vehicle owner’s account number for roadside assistance.

The trunk of each vehicle on the other hand is recommended to contain a tool kit, spare tire, tire jack, tire pressure gauge, air pump, jumper cables, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, blankets, bottled water and flashlight with spare batteries. A flat board and cat litter is also suggested to be used in getting the vehicle out if it gets mired in mud. The spare tire should be checked regularly.

The tires on the vehicle should likewise be checked regularly. Worn tire treads can be dangerous when driving on icy or wet roads. Improperly inflated tires cause uneven tread wear and higher gas consumption.

A vehicle should never be driven with defective headlights, brake lights, parking lights and turn signals. Even the

Worn wiper blades should not be taken for granted because any streaks or smears they cause can diminish the driver’s visibility. These should be replaced immediately. The wiper fluid should be kept refilled. Even the gas cap should be checked regularly. If not screwed on tightly it causes fuel evaporation.

If the engine maintenance light is turned on, this means that the vehicle owner should check under the hood. In doing so, the vehicle owner should be guided by the vehicle’s owner’s manual. This contains the manufacturer’s recommendations and schedule for the replacement of the air filter, fuel filter, automatic transmission fluid, belts and hoses, among others. Some of the regular checks can be done by the vehicle owners themselves. The scheduled checks and replacements should be noted by the vehicle owner in a calendar for monitoring and strict compliance.

Among the checks that vehicle owners can do are on the levels of oil and air conditioner coolant. Oil should be changed every 3,000 miles or even less when dirty. Coolant should be checked more when the seasons are changing.

Motorists in Tampa do not have to get heatstroke while driving. In fact, this is a totally preventable condition if only the vehicle’s air conditioning is maintained properly and repaired immediately upon break down. The vehicle owner can do this by working with an auto repair shop that specializes in auto air conditioning repair along with auto maintenance, tune ups and brakes, shocks and transmission repair in Tampa. Car air conditioner repair should never be ignored because a driver can suddenly be dealt unconscious by heatstroke, risking not only his life but the lives of others on the road, as well. Automotive AC repair at a dependable auto repair shop in Tampa is therefore crucial.

Well i was just curious…Is it perfectly legal if you take your car in a shopping mall or a office parking lot on a holiday when not too many cars are parked there, to do some kind of repair? Due to some restriction i can’t do some basic maintenance at my appartment parking lot like changing the brakes. I just don’t want that while i am in the middle of some work, someone come (may be a cop) and ask me to wind it up or impose some kind of fine..
I live in a suburban area in chicago
Well, just to add a point..i am talking about a holiday…when shopping mall or office is closed and in a parking lot of 1000 cars capacity, you can’t expect more then 100 cars on that day. Probably i can go to my office parking lot. being an employee, it may be treated as legal

There are many things you pick up when learning to drive, many of these things are a part of your theory based but others you pick up from owning and driving a car, after you pass. One thing it’s important to learn is how to changing a flat or damaged tyre. Changing a tyre can be a complicated process to those that haven’t had to change one before, but with a bit of instruction and perhaps practice at home, you should be prepared.First of all you need to know which tyre is flat, this is normally fairly obvious from looking at the tyre, it should be bulging from the low air pressure and look flat compared to the others. However if you are having trouble you could use a digital tyre pressure gauge to pin point which tyre is losing air.Secondly you’ll need to get the required tools, in new cars the tools will most definitely be with the spare tyre or in the boot somewhere. Older or second hand cars may not have these tools; the previous owner may have kept them or lost them. So if you’ve bought a second hand car recently check to see if the tools (a tyre iron /socket wrench and car jack) are all there in case you need them.Using the tools you should find the point on the bodywork that the jack is meant to attach too. You should be careful to make sure you don’t use the jack in the wrong place as this can damage the bodywork or trim. Before raising the car loosen the wheel nuts on the wheel you are replacing, this is because once elevated, the wheel will just spin round if you try to loosen it.Make sure you loosen or tighten nuts in opposite pairs; this is the safest way to use wheel nuts according to mechanics and car plant workers. Once the wheel nuts are loose, begin raising the car up on the jack, only raise the car as much as is needed, any more and you could make the car unstable and fall off the jack. It is always safest to use a jack on a clear flat surface so it doesn’t slip or if stopped on gravel you could place a piece of strong flat wood underneath it to secure it. Remove the wheel nuts completely and lift the wheel away from the car, you need to store this wheel in your car. Next you need to bring out the spare tyre and place it on the car, attaching the wheel nuts again. Once they are as tight as you can get them, lower the car off the jack and tighten up the nuts again with the tyre iron or wrench.Your car should now be safe to drive, however depending on the vehicle, your spare tyre may not be suitable to drive on indefinitely so it is advisable to drive to your nearest garage or tyre centre to get your main wheel repaired or refitted. Remember also that some spare wheels are only designed to be used at low speeds so consider this if you are travelling on a motorway.

It is important to regularly check that your car tyres are in good working order. It can be dangerous to drive your car with very worn tyres and also when they are under inflated due to issues with grip and handling. Tyre pressure is very important so you should check your car manual for the recommended tyre pressure as this varies with different models of cars. The correct pressure can also often be found inside the petrol filler cap. Top up your tyres with air at least once a month and ensure that the spare tyres are checked as well and topped up to the right pressure so that they are ready if and when you should need them. Motorists can buy a tyre pressure gauge from motor supplies shops so you don’t need to rely on going to the garage to check this. These are generally available at reasonable prices and they are very useful to check when your tyres are due for a replacement. Check the tyres for wear and tear, including cuts or bulges. Also check that the correct tread depth is in place. This is generally 1.6mm across the central ¾ reserve of the tyre and around the outer circumference. Many of us know how inconvenient it can be to change a tyre, especially if you do it yourself instead of calling your breakdown service. There are four items that you should carry with you to help make the experience of changing a tyre when you are on a journey as stress-free as possible. These include a pair of gloves to keep the hands warm and clean and a couple of old sheets of cloth. One of these sheets can be put down on the road to help keep your clothes clean and the other to wrap up the dirty tyre before putting it back into the boot. An anorak will also be handy if you end up having to change a tyre in the rain as well as a fully recharged or even re-chargeable torch in case you have to do it in the dark.Other essential tools you should make sure you carry with you in the car include a wheel nut key to remove the security bolts fitted to some car tyres. Practice doing this process in your own driveway or garden as this is a better place to learn than in the dark or rain on a busy road side.
