Purchased a brand new Chevrolet HHR in 2006. I will list the probelms.

    1. Developed a leak in the passenger floorboard at 1000 miles. The dealer denied that there was a probelm but could not explain why it was soaking wet. Took weeks of argument, after going to another dealer, the leak was located under the hood due to an improper firewall seal. The leak was finally fixed at 5000 miles, but re-appeared at 20,000 miles.

    2. The ignition was bad, the key would get stuck and you could not turn the vehicle off. The ignition was replaced twice. At 3000 and 6000 miles.

    3. Bad pin in the transmission, could not put the transmission in park. At 8000 miles.

    4. Vehicle started dying at 15000 miles while driving, just die. Also wouldn’t start sometimes, I would have to leave for a minute and come back. Took it to the dealer, they said they couldn’t find a probelm. This was the last straw and I contacted an Attorney.

The attorney told me that Oklahoma state law states that the vehicle must have a constant “same” probelm at least 3 times before it was considered a lemon.

I didn’t feel like waiting so I contacted Chevrolet. I had a 36000 mile warranty. They wanted to know what I wanted. I told them I would like an extended warranty.

Cheverolet contacted me back and stated that their records show a probelm with the vehicle but they were not prepared to offer me an extended warranty. However they would fix any existing probelms before the warranty was up. They also said that they would provide me with a free oil change!!

I traded that piece of junk in and purchased an Mitsubishi Outlander. The HHR is still for sale, 8 months later, on a toyota lot.

Every car or truck has some flaws in the way it was designed or defects.
I look at consumer reports and see how it has been rated.
