what will happen to michigan if the goverment doesnt bail out the auto makers?

how many jobs will be lost? and how many people will be jobless? i live in california and always thought about taking a vacation to detroit,but not sure if anybody will be there when i go there. will there even be a city left if the auto makers dont get bailed out.
Follow the Governor back home to Canada after she gets fired.
Why waste the money, put it into roads and other infrastructure projects
The losers will still be in Detroit asking you for change!
I see them pulling cigarette butts out of the garbage cans and smoking the leftover tobacco, but are too proud to get a job at McDonalds!
what would happen if the free market were to decide? We would be more prosperpous than we are now. If the taxes were removed for the big three, they could be fine, but we all know that the evil coprations are getting what they deserve…BS

GMC deserves it. They keep making unreliable cars. They’re also making cars nobody wants. THEY’RE COMING OUT WITH A NEW HUMMER FOR GOD SAKES! FORGET THE AUTOMAKERS! THEY’RE ALSO PAYING THEIR EMPLOYEES WAY TOO MUCH!

Michigan will have to diversify it’s economy just like Texas did. Back in the 1980′s Texas was dependent on oil for it’s economy and when the bottom fell out of the price ($8-$10 barrel) we had to develop other markets. Now we have one of the best economies in the country and we don’t even have an income tax.
Bailing them out only treats the symptom not the problem. The UAW makes it impossible for them to compete with the foriegn car makers. It costs roughly $1800 more for a UAW made car than it’s competitors. That doesn’t include the pensions or the employees that have been sitting at home for a decade still getting paid when the local plant closes. You name one other business that could stay in business with that model?
Auto makers will crash and burn, but they need too. They were too big for too long. The little people will be fine. Some other company from a foreign land will buy them and there, your job is saved. The gov doesn’t need to bail them out. Big oil and the big three did this on purpose. There greed new no bounds. They didn’t care about us, why should we care about them.
It will be a disaster, too bad the oil companies bought out any patents that would have enabled them to get more fuel efficient cars, and our government has helped them in a hole.
The big Solution is to get China over here to take over!!! Can you imagine what more of a mess this country will be in! It will be a horrible thing,> One in every 10 jobs is related to auto, and you wont be able to get parts on the cars you do own!!
We used to be the reason people came to this state, now there is nothing, we have been sold out, and the nation is to follow. We have see the buildings empty here since Bush took office ! Millions of jobs gone, they arent talking about them because the unemployment went out, so now they work 2jobs and lose their homes instead,
beginning of the great depression
